Kymera architects is an architecture and interior design practice founded in Athens by architects Ntiana Markou and Lito Pitiris in 2010.
The studio works across architecture, interior design and the transformation of existing spaces, with a particular focus on residential projects. We approach architecture and interiors as a continuous design process, where spatial composition, materiality, light and detail are considered as part of one cohesive whole.
Our work begins with understanding the people, the context and the potential of each space. Rather than imposing a predefined aesthetic, we seek to develop a distinct architectural language for every project — one that responds to its character, its constraints and the way it will be lived.
We are interested in the dialogue between architecture and everyday life, and in the possibility of transforming existing conditions into something unexpected. We work across every scale of a project, from the overall spatial organisation to bespoke furniture, materials and details, creating environments that are both highly considered and deeply personal.
Ntiana Markou, architect engineer, studied Architecture at the University of Patras and holds a Master of Science in Architecture from TU Delft, specialising in Hyperbuildings – Buildings of Mixed Uses. Before establishing Kymera architects, she worked with several architectural practices in Athens, gaining experience across a range of architectural projects.
Lito Pitiris, architect engineer, studied Architecture at the University of Patras and holds a Master of Arts in Architecture from Goldsmiths, University of London, specialising in the adaptive reuse of buildings. Her professional experience includes architectural practice as well as stage design in Athens, before co-founding Kymera architects.
The different academic and professional backgrounds of the two founders inform the studio’s approach, bringing together an interest in spatial transformation, adaptive thinking and the relationship between architecture and experience.
We believe that constraints can become opportunities, that materials can create atmosphere, and that carefully designed spaces can shape the way we live.
For us, architecture is space alchemy — turning constraints into possibilities, spaces into lived experience.
